Echocardiography

Echocardiography (Echo), is the most commonly ultilized, non-invasive cardiac imaging method. It can provide a lot of useful information, including the shape and size of the heart, systolic and diastolic functions, valvular insufficiency or stenosis, types of congenital heart diseases, and the location and severity of myocardial injury in coronary artery disease.

Note:

(only applicable to transesophageal echocardiography)

1. Not to eat for 6 hours before the examination, but you can drink some water

2. Not to eat or drink water 3 hours before the examination

3. Please come with relatives or friends

4. You may need intravenous fluids

5. You will not be suitable for this examination if there is dysphagia, or having previous throat or esophagus surgery
